An open letter from one of Time Out! Computers' DUMBEST customers!! (his words not ours)

You don't know me - but you are going to want to know about the really stupid thing I did. My dumb mistake cost me buckets of $$$ and hours of frustrating downtime. And what made it really dumb was that I could have avoided all the pain if I only listened to Ross's advice.

But oh no. Not me. When Ross said ... "Murray, you really should think about investing in a Power Pack Surge Protector Thingy to protect your new computer" (as you can tell I can't quite remember the technical name for it) ... I said ... "Yeah Ross, I'll think about it."

Like everybody who 'thinks about it' I never got around to doing anything about it ... until ...

One day (when my expensive computer was only 9 months old) I arrived back to my office and my assistant said ... "I hope you don't mind but I turned your computer off because it was making a loud high pitched noise and it had a burning electrical smell. Oh and the screen went blank."

The words 'computer' and 'burning electrical smell' do not sound good in the same sentence!!

Yep. Just as it sounds - my computer was fried. It seems that a power surge (or dip - or a series of surges and dips over time) cooked my CPU among other major EXPENSIVE parts.

And of course, this happened at the end of the month - the busiest time with sharp deadlines looming.

Like always Ross and his team came through like Superman rescuing Lois Lane from the clutches of an evil crusader. He had a new machine in my office, fully operational the next day.

But you guessed it - nothing was covered by manufacturers warranty because it was 'power related'.

Ross simply shook his head and said ... "Should I put a Power Protector Pack in now - it's $125.00 - do you think it might be worth it?"

Anybody else and I would have thought he was being a smug so and so. But Ross is about as down to earth as they come - and he really did have my best interest at heart.

Boy am I glad to have this super you beaut Power Thing protecting my new computer. It's already kicked in to protect mode 3 times (in the first month). And the other day the power went off completely for about 30 seconds. The Power Pack kept my computer running. I was able to save everything and shut down the files - without losing any of the information I was working on. That alone saved me a good ½ an hour.

As you can tell, I don't know anything technical about this Power Protector. But I do know that it 'evens out' the power that comes to my computer. It's a fact - we all experience dips in power - when the lights dim for a few seconds. While this is hardly noticeable (it happens so often we get used to it) it's like a nightmare for computers. And that's one of the many things this Power Pack protects your computer from.

By the way, this is not anything like the cheap surge things you get from Dick Smith or Harvey Norman. I believe they offer very limited protection (and they only protect against surges not the more common dips). The one Ross sells has a state-of-the-art battery to maintain constant power supply ALWAYS!!

Anyway - it's the best.

Don't be offended by this, but I'm guessing this letter is written from one dumb customer to another dumb customer. I really mean that (affectionately). You are plain dumb if you don't have one of these protectors on your computer.

Here's what I suggest. Save yourself the wasted $$$, time and frustration. (Remember, these problems always happen at the worst times). Get with the program - phone Ross NOW and get him to set up a Power Protector on every one of your computers. I reckon they are cheap insurance at only $350 (especially considering the time and hassle they save you.)

Hopefully I'm smarter now. And hopefully you're smarter too. Phone Ross right now - don't think about it like I did.

From one of Time Out! Computers' customers - who's not quite as dumb as he was last month.

P.S. While Ross is out installing your new Power Protector, get him to do a Maintenance Service on your computer. This is another thing Ross told me I should get done - and this time I'm listening - I hope you are too.

Aerofast Australia Pty LTD, have given all their Computer needs to Time Out Computers for the past 9 years.

Ross Bladin (the owner) was advised of the need for urgent assistance should any problems occur at any time.

Ross and Time Out Computers have exceeded our expectations wit many machines being purchased and the service being top class.

This also convinced me to use the company for all my personal needs in my home and office on the Gold Coast as well.
I am happy to recommend Ross and His Team to anyone looking for equiptment, service and software.

K Laing - Manager & Director

I have a serious complaint! My wife and I have been in Australia (ex New Zealand) now for over two years and we have purchased a lot of stuff including a caravan, two cars, innumerable tools, 3 air conditioners and one computer. Over this period of time, the failure rate of the items we have purchased has been in the 70% range or higher. We have been mucked about, put off and have several times had to cut our losses with expensive items including a refrigerater, two mobile phones and an expensive air conditioner. (That is on-going) My complaint is. . . you don't fit the local business profile; where nobody cares about you. Time Out Computers is the exception to the rule.

Since then, I have added upgrades to the computer, including a dual core processor, (on your advice) and added RAM.(Also on your tecnichian's advice). Each and every time I have visited your store or called you on the phone, I have recieved exceptional service, no-nonsense advice and customer service over and above what one might expect in a moderate size town. Recently, I had an issue with newly installed RAM and needed new Graphic Card drivers as the computer was crashing. In the last week or so since bringing the computer back to your technician, this computer has not failed once and my wife and I are enjoying our high-end graphics games without a hitch! Well Done guys, you have a stand-out and exceptional business in this town!

Harvey Norman and Clive Peters could learn some lessons from you guys. They don't stand behind their product. I would reccommend Time Out Computers to anyone considering buying a new computer. Thanks for your time and look forward to doing business with you in the future as I know we will be looked after.
